Likewise, our PC multithreaded rendering path, which is a port of what we already do on consoles, has quietly existed for a long time, but there were a lot of open problems with it that we needed to account for before we could present it to players. It’s something I’m sure we’ll continue to evaluate over time. The challenge mostly comes through tuning the parameters for dynamic resolution to hit the sweet spot between how aggressive the drops in resolution are, versus potentially missing frame drops from higher resolutions. We supported it on the PS4 Pro, so the infrastructure was largely already there and simply needed porting to Xbox. Shacknews: Alex, can you talk about some of the challenges with implementing these graphics updates for consoles?Īlex Tardif, Lead Graphics Programmer: Dynamic resolution scaling has existed in ESO for a while. To learn how the team at Zenimax Online Studios has been looking to keep ESO graphically crisp, Video Editor Greg Burke recently chatted with Lead Graphics Programmer Alex Tardif. Upgrading those visuals can be a long process, however. With new consoles, as well as new PC hardware, hitting the market, a 2014 release certainly doesn't want to lag behind, in terms of visuals. ![]() I'm not sure if other brands have the same features. The Elder Scrolls Online has been going strong for more than seven years. I haven't seen and videos on this by others but it looks cool. I have razor chroma keyboard, mouse, mousepad, headset, headset stand, minikey pad and it looks really cool with the effects that come with eso with everything reacting to what is happing in game. I do recommend if you are going to play the xbox version to play it on a xbox x. I have upgraded to an xbox x when it came out and it runs alot better than on the standard xbox. However my pc obviously costs alot more (i7 32gb ram 1080ti). In terms of the cost they the same give or take a few £ here and there. Xbox feels more rewarding to play and more social despite being less populated but pc plays alot smoother and looks better. PVE is generally easier on PC thanks to the help of addons which pretty much tell you how to play the game. On PC I play with the xbox interface and with an xbox controller as I couldn't get the hang of mouse and keyboard. PC just feels numb with characters and guilds not having a personality and everyone comes across in the same boring way. Xbox has alot of salty a toxic players (I think its a good thing as it makes them more memorable) due to the voice chat but also has really funny and friendly players. I joined there guild, built up relationships, had good laugh over the years and this year 6 of us went to Amsterdam from the uk and it was a blast. I got talking to some random people on xbox in pvp a few years ago. Area chat really helps to add a personality to a random character and make them be memorable where as on pc no one really stands out. There is nothing quite like taking nickle back with nickleback blaring down the mic, I know there are other services outside the game to voice chat on pc but the fun is really in the random encounters in area chat. Not having area voice chat on pc is a shame as it brings such a good social and entertaining aspect of the game. PC players are generally not as good as xbox in PVP. Hit 160 cp on pc in about a week with the help from free xp scrolls and double xp and jumped straight into non cp bgs and pvp. I've played xbox since release and just started playing pc. Other General Information is being updated to explain console controls. As with any standard multiplayer game on these platforms, an internet connection and an Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus membership will be required to play.
